Top 5 Attractions in Krabi and Phuket

1. Climbing the Tiger Cave Mountain ⛰️

“Safety first!” reminded my mother as we started climing the first flight of stairs.

“Alright!” we chimed. “This must be the hundredth time you said that!”

It was the perfect weather for mountain climbing. The best temperature to climb mountains is between 12°C and 15°C. However, anything up to 30°C shouldn’t affect you too much. Of all mountains, we’ve decided to climb the Tiger Cave Mountain in Krabi and take a look at the large golden Buddha statue right on top. “1260 steps, are you ready?” asked my father.

“Of course!” I answered. “I’ve been waiting for this very moment for a thousand years!” Everyone laughed.

“Hurry up!” I exclaimed as I took my first step to the top. I looked up. Even though it is a gigantic mountain, don’t worry. If I can climb it, you can too.

Soon, everyone was tired out except me. My father suggested that we take a rest. Looking back, we were thankful that after every few flight of stairs, there was tiny platform where we could take a break. My father said I was the most energetic throughout the entire journey.

“Halfway there,” my father said to us as we took another break at a different platform.

“Can’t everyone walk faster?” I thought.

Soon, the wonderous view came to life as we climbed further. My father pointed out that I was the only child that was climbing the mountain that morning.

We continued making our ascend after a short rest. Once in a while, we would stop to admire the breathtaking view that laid out beautifully in front of us like a magic carpet. “The steps are quite steep,” pointed out my parents.

“Is it?” I thought. It only appeared obvious to me when we made our descend. Each step was about a foot high.

“Going up!” I squealed with delight as I climbed the last few steps.

“What a wonderful view!” said my mother.

“This way to see Buddha!” directed my father as he led up ANOTHER flight of stairs.

Fortunately, these steps did not go far. We reached the ‘top’ in 5 seconds as…there were only a few steps! At the top, there was a large platform that was split into two. The lower platform had a staircase leading down to it and Buddha statue was on the higher platform. My father suggested that we should explore the higher platform first before heading to the lower one. We agreed immediately.

I examined the gigantic Buddha statue carefully. “Chop chop! Don’t you want to be in the photo?” asked my father. I turned around just in time for the picture.

Thereafter, we explored the lower part with all the other gods. I rang the bells that were located in a corner. After that , we climbed up ANOTHER flight of stairs for a better view!

If you are fit, I would highly recommend climbing the mountain to enjoy the breathtaking view of Krabi. You can time yourself for fun as well. We took 45 minutes to climb up the mountain and 40 minutes to descend. You can try to beat our time! Good luck climbing!

On the way on Tiger Cave Mountain

2. Snorkeling at Phi Phi Islands🏝️

Vroom! Travelling by speedboat was truly a unique experience, while snorkeling at the Phi Phi Islands was even more spectacular! It is a must try. This is how it went…

1st destination, Snorkeling off the Phi Phi Islands:

Once you arrive at the snorkeling destination, you can jump off the boat like me. There are many small colourful fishes that you will see. You can try to see if you can catch any of the fishes. I bet you wouldn’t be able to. If you are lucky, you may even spot a turtle or two.

The corals are unique and beautiful. There are hard and soft corals. Sometimes, if you look closely at a type of soft coral, you might discover…

Clownfish! Look out for these tiny creatures or you can ask your guide might tell you where to find the clownfish.

2nd destination, Swimming at Pi Leh Bay:

Pi Leh Bay is wonderful lagoon where you can have a refreshing dip. Feel free to swim any stroke you like. The lagoon is a large area where you can have an intense competition with your friends and relatives, or perhaps just relax and enjoy the surrounding nature.

3rd destination, Snorkeling at Monkey Beach:

You will find soft white sand at Monkey Beach. If you wade further from the beach, you can snorkel as well. There are sea urchins and stone fish there. Be careful, though, as both sea urchins and stone fish are highly poisonous.

Beautiful Maya Beach

But… it is…

Have fun snorkeling!

Nature Reserves and The Nature Hunt🌳

Phuket is a great place for waterfall hunting.

Here’s a poem just for you:

Have a look in the woods,

Look up, down and around.

What do you see?

Trees that surround…

Hunt for them waterfalls,

Hard to find but if you found,

Snap a picture and behold,

The waterfall that you found!

Waterfall in Wat Khao – Phang Nga Bay

Do you like it? Thank you! Here’s another poem:

Rubber, rubber, rubber trees,

Sticky rubber there is.

To make that ball of yours alive,

Takes a rubber tree…

Get that bark out and see the magic,

Sing and dance around it!

A bowl to collect the material,

Which you seldom see!

<THE END OF POEM>

Ok, now that I have roughly told you what it is about, let me describe it all again in detail.

We went to hunt for waterfalls in Phang Nga Bay, north of Phuket island, and found a few. It was amazing. I could hear the water gushing down and it continued to flow all the way to the sea!

If you like to be in nature, I strongly recommend you try and hunt for the waterfalls!

Next, we went to see rubber tree plantations. Phang Nga Bay has many of them and sometimes, you might see rubber oozing out of a thin black pipe that is attached to the rubber tree! Do not touch the rubber though, as it is very sticky!

Tip: Mosquitoes start to appear in huge numbers from about 6pm to 7pm, so make sure you put on mosquitoe repellant if you intend to be out during this time!

Siam Niramit 🐘

Siam Niramit is an unforgettable experience for me. Our program included a delicious buffet, a preshow and an actual show. The buffet had a huge spread which included traditional Thai street food and international cuisines such as mango sticky rice, chicken rice, various kinds of curry and pineapple fried rice.

After the scrumptious buffet is the preshow. It is about a traditional Thai folk tale called Hanuman. There was a monkey king who was actually a god! There was also other characters like the goat etc. Fun fact: “Hanuman is also the name of the monkey king. Not only is it a popular Thai folk tale, it is also the story of Deepavali, also know as Diwali and the festival of lights.” Some lucky audiences might be invited on stage to dance with the performers! If you are invited, just copy their movements and dance with them!

Thereafter, it is time for the actual show! It is about the history of Thailand and Thai people’s beliefs. For example, the mythical forest. If you are interested in it, book a ticket now!

The Upside Down Museum🏡

The Upside Down Museum is located on the eastern side of central Phuket. It is just near the Premium Factory Outlet mall and along the main highway.

When you first arrive at the museum, you will see all the signs that are upside down. There are upside down bins, lampposts and cars at the entrance of the museum. After you enter the museum from a small gate leading to the only counter there, you will see a 3D upside down vehicle on the ceiling. I will leave it to you to find out what the vehicle is if you do visit.

Almost everything in the museum is upside down. The musuem is organized into different zones. Each zone represents part of a typical house. For example there is the living room area where the the sofa and coffee table are placed upside down. The staff there will teach you how to pose and take photos so that you will appear upside down in the photos. Thereafter, you can go on your own to snap interesting photos to show your family and friends.

There are featured photos on a bulletin board. Other than the upside down museum, there is also the garden maze, drunken box and VR experience. Have fun exploring!
